Hongirana Cultural and Social Society, founded several years ago, has been organizing cultural programs with a commitment to preserving and promoting arts, literature, music, and traditional culture. The organization works to safeguard art forms that are on the brink of extinction, organizing various programs to keep these traditions alive. It also introduces traditional art forms to interested art lovers through workshops and training sessions. Additionally, Hongirana encourages traditional village sports and provides necessary facilities to athletes. Many artists have been honored by the organization, inspiring their continued dedication to their craft.

One of our key areas of focus is puppetry, where we have organized special performances to captivate audiences of all ages, from children to the elderly. Our performances have been featured on prominent TV channels like Doordarshan's Chandana, Chintu TV, Basava TV, Canara TV, and Udaya TV, along with local TV channels. We have also participated in prestigious festivals like the Hampi Utsav, Horanadu Utsav, Karavali Utsav, Kadambotsav, Malenadu Utsav, and the world-famous Mysore Dasara. Our performances have reached national and international audiences, with shows across 23 Indian states and in countries like Thailand (Bangkok), France (Paris), and Germany (Berlin).
Our puppetry performances focus on various themes, including environmental conservation, plastic pollution (Plasticasura), global warming, historical events, freedom movements, folktales like Punyakoti, and scenes from the epics Ramayana and Mahabharata. We also conduct awareness programs on topics like COVID-19, child marriage, addiction prevention, and cultural preservation. These shows range from 10 minutes to 1 hour in duration.

We have performed in major cities like Guwahati (Assam), Delhi, Panaji (Goa), Gurugram (Haryana), Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh), and Kollapur (Maharashtra). Our puppet troupe consists of 12 artists using various types of puppets such as string puppets, rod puppets, and hand puppets. The organization is committed to introducing these vanishing art forms to newer generations and also engages in various social activities.
